What is the Best Time to Send Your Email Newsletter?
April 9, 2020
Marketers asked what time to send their email marketing campaign will often respond with the standard answer, "Tuesday through Thursday between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM". But is this really the best time of day for all businesses?
It has been common knowledge across the board that most people check their email in the morning. This is typically the case for both business and personal email. However, with the shift to much of email being accessed via a mobile device, this may not be as relevant as it once was.
There may no longer be clear-cut best time to send an email newsletter or email marketing campaign. However, there may be less desirable times as emails on mobile devices are very easy to delete with a simple swipe of the finger.
Many Americans are doing just that first thing in the morning, swiping through and deleting the junk that came in overnight. This can make sending email campaigns early, so they sit in a subscriber in box waiting for them to start their day a potentially poor time to send.
For email campaigns accessed on mobile devices, your best bet is to send the campaign when your recipients are awake and with their phone or computer handy. The mail icon showing that mail has arrived will grab their attention, dramatically improving your open rate.
This best time today extends well beyond the old 8:00 am – 10:00 am philosophy, giving marketers a lot more leeway for when to send their campaigns.
